For Petitioners : Mr.N.Desinghu For Respondents : Mr.K.Raja Standing Counsel C O M M O N O R D E R Mr.K.Raja, learned Standing Counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent, the writ petitions are taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2.The petitioners have filed these writ petitions seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest for the belated payment of their retirement benefits. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners retired from service on 31.05.2023, 28.02.2023, 30.06.2025 and 30.06.2023 respectively, however, the retirement benefits were settled belatedly, albeit, without any interest. He would further submit that the petitioners have sent representation to the respondents on 02.07.2025, 03.07.2025, 02.07.2025 and 02.07.2025 respectively, claiming interest upon the belated payment. 4.At this juncture, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for 3/6
the respondents would fairly submit that the respondents would pay 6% interest per annum upon belated eligible payment as per the order of this Court in similar writ petition in W.P.No.40031 of 2024, dated 06.01.2025.
5.Considering the submission made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay 6% interest per annum upon belated eligible payment of retirement benefits of the petitioners, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
