revenue records were not mutated the aggrieved landowners filed the writ petition. The writ petition was disposed of with a direction to the Revenue Authorities to mutate the revenue records in the name of the respondents / writ petitioners.
3. The Tahsildar, Madhavaram Taluk, Chennai preferred the present Intra-Court Appeal. During the pendency of the writ appeal, the revenue records were mutated. Since the contempt proceedings have been initiated as of now, the issues between the landowners and the Land Acquisition Officer has been settled.
4. On an earlier occasion, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has clarified that the Government is at liberty to initiate fresh acquisition proceeding, if such lands are required for public purposes. In other words there is no impediment for the Government of Tamil Nadu to initiate fresh land acquisition proceedings, if the lands are required for implementing public projects, schemes, etc.
