Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to forthwith consider enhancement of compensation at least to an extent of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakhs only) and to disburse the same on the basis of representation dated 26.03.2016, within a time to be stipulated by this Court. O R D E R

The petitioner seeks for Mandamus directing the respondents to enhance the compensation at least to an extent of Rs.2,00,000/- and disburse the same, based on her representation dated 26.03.2016.

2. The petitioner sought for such compensation due to the death of her son by drowning. The 1st respondent considered the request of the petitioner and paid a compensation of Rs.15,000/-. However, the petitioner seeks for enhancement of compensation as stated supra.

3. When the matter was taken up on earlier occasion, this Court, considering the pathetic condition of the petitioner, directed the learned Additional Government Pleader to find out as to whether more compensation can be paid to the petitioner. 4. The learned Additional Government Pleader produced a letter dated 21.01.2019 addressed by the District Collector, Namakkal to the Additional Government Pleader of this Court informing that the petitioner has been identified as eligible for getting monthly pension of Deserted Destitute Widow Pension under Social Security Scheme and that instruction has been given to Special Tahsildar (SSS), Paramathi-Velur to sanction of Rs.1,000/- per month under Social Security Scheme from February, 2019 onwards.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner will be satisfied if such monthly pension is granted to her.

6. Since the Government has come forward to grant monthly pension as stated supra, to protect the interest of the petitioner and since the petitioner is also satisfied with such gesture, this Writ Petition is disposed of, by recording the above undertaking given by the respondents and by further directing the payment of such pension to the petitioner from the month of February, 2019 onwards.

7. This Court records its appreciation of the steps taken by the learned Additional Government Pleader, Mr.D.Suriya Narayanan, in getting the pension sanctioned to the petitioner, a poor & needy. No costs.
