Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus or direction based on the representation dated 16.1.2016 and 8.4.2017 to direct the respondent 1 to 6, 250 odd "NARI KURAVAS PEOPLES" inhabitation the area below the Kuvam Bridge between Thiruvallur Manavalan Nagar, be evicted and shifted to a Community Environment Hall and provide them means of livelihood to lead a dignified life. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) Heard Mr.G.Devarajan, the petitioner appearing in person; and Mr.A.Edwin Prabakar, learned State Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents.

2. The prayer sought in this writ petition is to evict the Narikuravar people from below the Cooum Bridge between Thiruvallur and Manavalan Nagar and shift them to a Community Environment Hall and provide them with means of livelihood to lead a dignified life.

3. Learned State Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents, referring to the status report filed by the Tahsildar, Tiruvallur, submitted that 52 Narikuravar families, who resided under the Periyakuppam Railway Bridge, have been given house-site pattas. However, most of them have not shifted to the allotted place. He further submitted that the authorities concerned shall consider the grievance ventilated by the petitioner with regard to relocation of the Narikuravas people sympathetically and take necessary steps.

4. Recording the aforesaid submission made by learned State

Government Pleader, the writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
