Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying to directing the respondent, the Commissioner, Chennai City Municipal Corporation to consider the representation submitted by the Petitioner dated 27.10.2016 so as to consider his name in the panel being prepared for the post of Assessor for the year 2016 - 17, based on the initial promotion of the Petitioner as Licence Inspector with effect from 01.03.2011, within a reasonable period as may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court. O R D E R

The relief sought for in this writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondent to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 27.10.2016, for inclusion of his name in the panel for promotion to the post of Assessor.

2. The learned counsel for the writ petitioner states that the writ petitioner was appointed as Basic Health Worker and thereafter promoted to the post of Junior Assistant and Tax Collector in the year 2001. He is eligible for promotion to the Post of Licence Inspector and his name was inadvertently omitted inspite of the fact that he is fully qualified for promotion. In this regard, the writ petitioner made a representation on 20.06.2013 to the respondent and the same is yet to be considered.

3. Without going into the merits of the case, the respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 20.06.2013 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. The writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. However, no order as to costs.
