ORDER

By consent of both parties, the present writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The case of the petitioners is that they are the residents of Pattanam Panchayat Union of Pattanampudur, Coimbatore District, which has the population of around 14000

people and they are collectively aggrieved by the irregular drinking water and potable water supply for the usage of their family members. The ground water of Pattanam Pudur (Pattanam Panchayat) in Coimbatore is highly polluted due to Noyyal Chemical drainage flowing in and around the village. In view of the prevailing condition, the petitioners and other residents in and around the village requested to the respondents to strictly implement the "Pillur II Stage Drinking Water Scheme" which came to be commenced and completed way back in 2013 and the Panchayat collected deposits from the public for the purpose of giving connections for the supply of drinking water in 2013. Despite the same, the process of water pipe line connection is getting delayed, even after the completion of the scheme. As of now, the residents are supplied with 21.

1pcd, (around 10 Lakhs liters), thereby they were made to suffer due to inadequate quantity of water. As per the scheme, the respondents are yet to lay the service lines towards the residence of the petitioners in order to provide metro water connection. The petitioners have also collectively sent representation dated 06.09.2016 and sought for the water supply connections to all the residents as per the "Pillur II Stage Drinking Water Scheme" and the same is yet to see the light of the day. According to the petitioners, the act of the respondents in not extending the water supply connection to the residents of the Pattanam Panchayat Union of Pattanampudur despite of the "Pillur II stage Drinking Water Scheme" therefore warrants issuance of a Mandamus by this Court.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has submitted that it would suffice if the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 06.09.2016, within a stipulated time.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents has no objection for such an order being passed by this Court.

5. Having regard to the above submissions made by both sides and in the light of the above facts, without going into the merits of the case, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 06.09.2016 and pass orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible.

6. With the above direction, the present writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
