O R D E R

Writ Petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay the interest for the belated payment of the retirement benefits such as revised pension Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity, selection grade and special grade and leave salary at the rate of 9% per annum as per Pension Rules.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as the learned counsel appearing for the respondents. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he is a retired employee of the Registration Department. He retired on 30.11.2011, but retirement benefits were not paid to the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

petitioner in time. However, the same was paid belatedly. Therefore, the petitioner has made a representation dated 05.02.2019 to the District Registrar, Chennai South to sanction 9% interest for the delayed payment for all pensionary benefits. Thereafter, he sent a reminder letters on 29.07.2019 and 07.08.2019 to the respondents.

However, the petitioner's representation was not considered by the respondents till date. Hence this writ petition.

4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice, if this Court issues direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders within the reasonable time.

5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court hereby directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.02.2019 along with reminders dated 29.07.2019 & 07.08.2019 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
