This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 28.06.2024 wherein the petitioner is seeking for providing new electricity service connection to the shop belonging to the petitioner.

2. Heard Mr.D.Nandagopal, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.L.Jaivenkatesh, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents 1 and 2.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents 1 and 2 produced the written instructions received from the Assistant Engineer. On going through the same, it is seen that the service connection provided to the petitioner is in tact and it has not been disconnected by the Electricity Department. In view of the same, it is clear that the third respondent has disconnected the electricity service connection and as a 2/4

result, the petitioner is aggrieved.

4. The dispute is between the third respondent and the petitioner, who are landlord and tenant. The third respondent is said to have cut down the amenities by taking away the service connection. This dispute has to be agitated before the concerned Rent Control Court seeking for restoration of amenities. The Electricity Department will not have any role to play since the connection which is already in existence is in tact. Hence, liberty is granted to the petitioner to work out his remedy before the concerned forum. This writ petition is disposed of in the above terms.
