This is a petition which has been filed seeking for extension of time to deposit the amount as directed by this Court on 07.07.2023. As per said order, the civil revision petitioner was directed to deposit 50% of the arrears amount from the date of filing of the maintenance petition till May, 2017. 2.

Ms.Sudharshana Sunder, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has drawn my attention to the affidavit & states that due to oversight she was not in a position to deposit the amount in time.

I am satisfied with the reasons stated in the affidavit and also willing to extend the time. On 21.09.2023, I had requested the learned counsel for the petitioner to come up with a cheque for a sum of Rs.1,88,500/-. Today, learned counsel for the petitioner has brought the said sum of Rs.1,88,500/- and she has handed over the money to Mr.D.Nandagopal, learned counsel appearing for the respondent/wife, who in turn, handed over the money to Tmt.Umadevi. This is in full compliance of the orders of this Court dated 07.07.2023.

Consequently, time has been extended. The directions given by this Court by order dated 07.07.2023 shall be strictly complied with by the learned III Additional Judge, Family Court, Chennai. In case, the plaintiff is able to prove that the defendant is not entitled to maintenance, the said amount shall be refunded. 5.

This petition is ordered accordingly.
