This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondent to settle all retirement benefits to the petitioner and to pay interest for the period of delay in settling the terminal benefits to the petitioner.

2. The contention of the petitioner is that the petitioner retired from service on 31.05.2023 and his retirement benefits have not been settled to the petitioner till date. Hence, seeks a direction to the respondent to settle the retirement benefits to the petitioner along with interest at 4% for belated payment of his retirement benefits.

3. Heard Mr.D.Anand Raja learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.K.Raja, learned counsel appearing for the respondent.

This Court, in various decisions, have already taken a view that in all cases of belated payment of the terminal benefits, the concerned employee would be entitled for interest at the rate of 4% per annum. Hence, this Court is of the view that the petitioner is entitled for interest at the rate of 4% per annum on the belated payment of the terminal 2/4

benefits.

5. Accordingly, the respondent is directed to settle the terminal benefits to the petitioner along with interest at the rate of 4% per annum on the belated payment of the retirement benefits, from the date of his retirement till the date of actual disbursement within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
