Prayer in Cont.P.No.2577 of 2022: Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, seeking to punish the respondents for their disobedience of the order of this Court dated 19.09.2014 passed in W.P.No.15247 of 2014.

The contempt petitioners filed the respective writ petitions challenging the land acquisition proceedings in terms of Section 24(2) of the Right to Fir Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 and the writ petitions were allowed. Despite the said orders of this Court, the respondents have not issued NOC to the petitioners, thereby, the present contempt petitions are filed. 2/4

3. This Court, vide order dated 24.03.2023 issued statutory notice for the appearance of the respondents/contemnors. Pursuant to which, the respondents/contemnors appeared before this Court today and produced the letters bearing Letter No.LA2(4)/6554/2021 dated 17.04.2023, in which, it has been specifically stated that there is no land acquisition proceedings pending in respect of the petitioners' lands.

4. Recording the above facts, these contempt petitions are closed and the appearance of the respondents/contemnors is dispensed with. However, the petitioners are at liberty to file appropriate application for mutation of revenue records before the jurisdictional Tahsildar and if such application is filed, the jurisdictional Tahsildar is directed to mutate the revenue records in terms of the letters of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, dated 17.04.2023. 21.04.2023 Index : Yes/No Speaking Order/ Non-speaking order sp 3/4
