The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 20.05.2024, for the alleged offence punishable under Sections 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii) C), 28 and 29 of NDPS Act in R.R.No.35 of 2024, on the file of the respondent police, seek bail.

2.The case of the prosecution is that based on the secret information the officers of Narcotis Control Bureau, Chennai has seized a total 225.400 kgs of brownish green colour dry leaves bearing flowering tops which is a Ganja. Hence the complaint.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that the petitioner is an innocent and a false case has been foisted against him. He would further submit that the petitioner is no way connected with the said occurrence.

4.The learned Special Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police would contend that that the petitioners herein are prime accused in this case and the investigation is in initial stage. He further 1/3

submitted that the quantity involved in this case is commercial in nature. Hence, he opposed to grant bail to the petitioner. 5.Heard both side and perused the materials available on record. 6.Considering the gravity of offence and the investigation is at initial stage the matter requires further investigation and quantity involved in this case is a commercial quantity, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
