O R D E R

This petition is filed to direct the 3rd respondent Police to conduct proper enquiry and to collect the Registration Certificate, Vehicle Insurance, Driving Licence of the driver, Permit of the vehicle and other documents related to the owner of the vehicle bearing Registration No.TN-93-B-1329 which had caused accident and to issue copies of the same to the petitioner relating to Crime No.257 of 2022, dated 12.04.2022 on the file of the 3rd respondent Police.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that on a complaint given by one of the relatives of the petitioner with regard to road traffic accident that had occurred on 06.04.2022 a case was registered in Cr. No.257 of 2022; the petitioner is the injured in the accident and he had sustained grievous injury over his right leg and was taking treatment for several days as in-patient; despite it is revealed that the vehicle belongs to 2/5

Mettur Super Services, so far the third respondent police did not take any further action.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that the petitioner had given a wrong vehicle number in the complaint; hence, the investigation was done through CCTV footage and the third respondent is able to ascertain the right vehicle which was involved in the accident and appropriate action is being taken at all levels.

4. Since the suspected accused seems to be owing several vehicles, confusion could have been caused. However taking into consideration of the positive steps taken by the third respondent police, I feel it is appropriate to direct the third respondent to expedite the investigation and file final report within a stipulated time frame.

5. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is allowed and the third respondent is directed to expedite the investigation and file final report within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 3/5
