[ RESPONDENTS ] Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the third respondent herein to consider the representation dated 4.4.2016 of the petitioner herein for appointment on compassionate ground in the existing grass root level vacancies within a reasonable time as may be fixed by this Honourable Court.

O R D E R
The relief sought for in this Writ Petition is for a direction to the respondents to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 04.04.2016, in relation to his Application seeking compassionate appointment.
2.The learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner submitted that the father of the writ petitioner was working as Head Mazdoor in the State Bank of India at Coimbatore and passed away on 27.09.2014, while he was in service. Thereafter, the writ petitioner submitted an Application on 04.04.2016, seeking for appointment on compassionate ground, with the third respondent. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the respondents made a submission that the writ petitioner is not eligible for appointment on compassionate ground in view of the terms and conditions of scheme.
4.However, this Court is of the firm view that when once the Application/representation is received by the competent authorities seeking compassionate appointment, they are duty bound to consider the same, take a decision and communicate the same to the person who made such representation. Keeping the Application pending, without providing a reply, is undesirable and every citizen of this Country is entitled to get reply from the competent authorities and the authorities concerned are duty bound to provide such a reply. 5.In this view of the matter, without going into the merits of the matter, the third respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 04.04.2016, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
