ORDER

(Made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.) This habeas corpus petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the first and second respondents to produce his wife P.S.Saranya, aged about 36 years and minor daughter Devadharshini, aged about 9 years, before this Court and hand over the custody to the petitioner forthwith.

It is the case of the petitioner his wife Saranya, aged about 36 years, went missing along with his daughter Devadharshini, aged about 9 years from 19.09.2022 and that the police are not taking effective steps to secure her.

On instructions, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on a complaint given by one Uthandi (brother-in-law of the petitioner and brother of Saranya), a case in Bhuvanagiri Police Station Crime No.492 of 2022 has been registered on 21.09.2022 for "woman and girl-missing" and investigation is in progress.

In such view of the matter, we direct the Additional Superintendent of Police, Chidambaram Range, Cuddalore, to supervise the investigation in Crime No.492 of 2022 that is being conducted by the Inspector of Police, Bhuvanagiri Police Station, Cuddalore and keep the petitioner informed of the developments, if any. As and when Saranya, aged about 36 years and Devadharshini, aged about 9 years, are secured, they shall be produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court No.II, Parangipettai, Cuddalore District, under intimation to the petitioner and Uthandi. On such production, the learned Magistrate may pass appropriate orders with regard to custody in accordance with law.

With the above observations and directions, this habeas corpus petition stands closed.
