ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for issuance of a Mandamus, directing the respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner wherein, the petitioner sought for correction of his date of birth as 10.02.1965 instead of 20.10.1965 and to renew the passport for the regular period. 2.When the matter was taken up for hearing on 18.08.2025, this Court directed the learned Central Government Standing counsel to take instructions and report before this Court.

3.When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Central Government Standing counsel produced the position note of the respondent. One of the main ground that has been taken by the respondent is that there is a substantial delay on the petitioner in approaching the respondent to correct the date of birth. Hence, if the petitioner submits all the relevant documents including the 'School Leaving Certificate', the same will be considered by the respondent.

4.Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the material placed before this Court and also taking note of the submissions made on either side, there shall be a direction to the respondent to deal with the application submitted by the petitioner and record the change in date of birth based on the documents submitted by the petitioner including the 'School Leaving Certificate' and renew the passport for the regular period. This process shall be completed within a period of four(4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
