O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking to direct the first respondent to take action on the petitioner's representation dated 20.05.2025 by taking into account of CCTV footage recorded on 17.05.2025 in the fourth respondent's police station.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents.

3. It is the main grievance of the petitioner that the seventh respondent is involved in several illegal activities, including katta panchayat and large-scale illegal mining in and around Thiruvennainallur. It is alleged that on 04.05.2025, the seventh respondent's men assaulted the 2/5

wife of the vegetable vendor. When the victims approached the police station with the hospital report and CCTV footage to lodge a complaint on 17.05.2025, the fifth and sixth respondents along with the seventh respondent's men, allegedly threatened them with a false case.

4. In this regard, the petitioner submitted representations dated 19.05.2025 and 20.05.2025 to the third and first respondents respectively, but, no action has been taken by the authorities. Further, despite the availability of CCTV footage showing the presence of the rowdy elements in the fourth respondent Police Station on 17.05.2025, no further action has been initiated by respondents 1 to 4 against respondents 5 to 7.

5. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for respondents 1 to 4 submitted that the respondent Police will collect the CCTV footage, conduct an enquiry and take appropriate action in accordance with law.

6. The submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) is recorded. It is made clear that whenever illegal mining or removal of natural minerals without any licence is detected, proper legal 3/5

action shall be taken. Further, if any assault on individuals is found recorded in the CCTV footage, the respondent Police shall ensure that appropriate action is initiated.

7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
