O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to sanction, draw and disburse the legal fees due to the petitioner for the services rendered as Additional Advocate General-VII to the respondents Department in the High Court of Judicature at Madras, along with interest @ 12% p.a., from the date of claim, till the date of realization, within a reasonable time fixed by this Court.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner was appointed as Additional Advocate General-VII by the Government to represent the state Government before the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi by order dated 15.02.2016. Subsequently, by the order of the Government dated 01.08.2016, the petitioner was transferred from the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi to the High Court of Madras, by assuming the office as

Additional Advocate General-VII. He was working in the said post from 04.08.2016 to 22.12.2017. The petitioner made claim for the legal fee due to him for the services rendered as Additional Advocate General-VII from July 2016 to December 2017, however, the same has not been sanctioned so far. The petitioner sent reminders for the bills to the respondents on various occasions in the year 2019, 2020 and 2021 and the last of such representation was 20.05.2022, however, the same has not been settled so far. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition with the aforesaid prayer.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if the first respondent is directed to process the bills payable to the petitioner as per the representation dated 05.10.2021, in accordance with law, within a specified period.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the first respondent to process the bills payable to the petitioner by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 05.10.2021 and pay the same, if not already paid, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
