By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2.The case of the petitioners is that the petitioners are teaching staff in Annamalai University and the said University issued notification dated 08.08.2018 in letter No.AU/CAS/2018 calling for applications from eligible teachers and other academic staff of Annamalai University except Medical and Dental Faculties under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for promotion as Assistant Professors / Assistant Director of Physical Education / Assistant Librarian Stage 1 to 2 and Stage 2 to 3 for the post of Assistant Professor, Stage 3 to 4 for the post of Associate Professor and Stage 4 to 5 for the post of Professor. There are lot of irregularities in the selection process for which the petitioners send their representations dated 09.09.2019 objecting the procedure adopted by the University along with proof. Till date the same have been not considered. Hence, the petitioners have filed the present petition.
3.Heard both sides.
4.The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that it would suffice, if a direction is issued to the respondent Annamalai University to consider the representations of the petitioners dated 09.09.2019 and pass orders, within a stipulated time fixed by this Court.
5.Though the petitioners have sought for a larger relief, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent Annamalai University to consider the petitioners' representations dated 09.09.2019 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
6.With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
