O R D E R

Mr.P.V. Selvakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent. With consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2. The petitioner has come up with the present writ petition, praying to direct the respondent to dispose of his application dated 16.11.2016, for issuance of certified copies of documents within a stipulated time.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he is owner of the property comprised in S.No.143/2, No.173 of Selayur Village, 9/3 Periyar Street, Athi Nagar, East Tambaram, Chennai- 59 and the property is comprised in S.No.63/3, Nainamaraikkan,

Ramanadapuram, measuring an extent of 45 cents, and in respect of which, he was in possession of documents (viz., Rectification Deed and Sale Deed). The grievance of the petitioner, due to heavy flood, his premises was fully inundated, and the documents, related to the aforesaid properties were found missing. The petitioner states that, as per the order passed by the Government, in G.O.Ms.No.120, dated 07.12.2015, he is entitled to seek for issuance of certified copies of documents, which were lost/missed in the flood. Hence, the petitioner submitted an application, dated 16.11.2016, seeking for issuance of copies of the missing documents. Since the said application evoked no response, the petitioner is before this Court by way of this Writ Petition, seeking for the aforementioned relief.

4. Mr.P.V.Selvakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, submitted that if the said application is in proper form and if the respondent is the competent authority, the same would be considered by the respondent.

In view of the submission of the learned counsel for the parties, the Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's application, dated 16.11.2016 on merits and in accordance with law and dispose of the same within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
