ORDER

In this Writ Petition, the Petitioner has challenged the impugned Demand Notice dated 09.08.2023 whereby a sum of Rs.2,28,782/- has been 2/6

demanded as arrears of water and sewerage tax together with surcharge under the provisions of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Act, 1978.

2. After the impugned Demand Notice dated 09.08.2023 was communicated to the Petitioner, the Petitioner has sent a Representation to the Respondents on 09.09.2023 which however has not evoked any response from the Respondents.

3. It appears that on 05.09.2023, the Petitioner was informed by the 3rd Respondent as to the basis on which the amount was being demanded.

4. Today when the case was taken up for hearing, the learned Standing Counsel for the Respondents 2 to 5 submits that the aforesaid Representation dated 09.09.2023 will be considered and disposed of on merits.

5. Recording the same, this Writ Petition stands disposed of by directing the 3rd Respondent to consider the aforesaid Representation dated 09.09.2023 of the Petitioner and dispose of the same on merits and in 3/6

accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. Pending such exercise, no coercive steps shall be taken by the 3rd Respondent / all further recovery proceedings shall be kept in abeyance.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above observations. No costs. Connected Writ Miscellaneous Petition is closed. 12.12.2025 arb 4/6
