Ms.G.Hema, learned Central Government Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondent. By consent of the parties, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the respondent to renew / reissue the passport of the petitioner, based on his application No.MA.1070853652718.
3. It is stated that the petitioner is a holder of the passport issued by the respondent in the year 2000 and the same was renewed in the year 2008 bearing Passport No.Z1741510 valid upto 09.03.2018. It is also stated that the petitioner made an application seeking for renewal / reissue of the passport on 11.01.2018 and the said application is still pending without consideration. Therefore, the petitioner filed the present writ petition seeking for mandamus, as stated supra.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner invited this Court's attention to the Token N 273 issued by the respondent indicating that the petitioner's application for renewal is put https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
on hold. Therefore, he submitted that unless an order is passed by the respondent, the petitioner's further travel schedule cannot be fixed.

Considering the above stated facts and circumstances, without expressing any view on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, this writ petition is disposed of, only with a direction to the respondent to pass orders on the application of the petitioner for renewal / reissue of the passport on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
