COMMON ORDER The present writ petitions have been filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus directing the respondent in the respective writ petitions to issue certified copies of the Documents sought by the petitioner in his application dated 1.2.2016 under Section 76 of the Indian Evidence Act 1872 in accordance with the rules and regulations applicable in this regard.
2. Heard Mr.M.Purushothaman, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mrs.P.Rajalakshmi, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.
3. The petitioner, an organizer of Handicraft Exhibitions, having failed to get permission to conduct Exhibition at Valluvar Kottam, had earlier filed a writ petition in W.P.No.27303 of 2013. Based on the submission of the respondent in the said writ petition that at the relevant time the premises was alloted to some other exhibitors, the writ petition was dismissed as infructuous. Thereafter, on receipt of some information that the premises was not allotted to other exhibitors, as alleged, the petitioner had moved the XIV Assistant City Judge, Chennai by filing O.S.No.4535 of 2014 to get his grievance redressed. The petitioner had submitted an application to the respondents on 1.2.2016 seeking certified copies of certain documents from the respondents, in support for his case. Since his request was not considered, he has come up with the present writ petition.
4. Considering the limited relief sought for in the writ petition, the respondents are directed to consider the application of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders with regard to furnishing of the documents sought for by the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. No costs.
