Prayer:- Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 18.06.2025 in regard to settlement of Gratuity payment to the petitioner from 24.06.2013 with 12 percent interest per annum within a stipulated time frame as fixed by this Hon'ble Court. O R D E R

The above Writ Petition is filed for the following reliefs:- "directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 18.06.2025 in regard to settlement of Gratuity payment to the petitioner from 24.06.2013 with 12 percent interest per annum within a stipulated time frame as fixed by this Hon'ble Court."

2. It is the contention of the petitioner that he had joined the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board in 1985 as an Office Assistant (casual labourer). His services were regularised on 06.06.1988. Subsequently, he was promoted as Junior Assistant on 16.12.2002, as Assistant on 21.06.2010, and as Superintendent on 08.03.2013. Due to health issues, he had voluntarily retired from service on 24.06.2013. Despite his retirement, the respondent had not settled the gratuity amount. Therefore, the petitioner had made several representations in this regard to the respondent starting from the year 2018 and the latest of which was made on 18.06.2025. However, no action has been taken to date. Hence, the present Writ Petition. 2/4

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

Considering the fact that the respondents, who are duty-bound to dispose of the statutory representation, have failed to discharge their obligation, the Writ Petition is allowed and a direction is issued to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 18.06.2025 and pass orders in accordance with law within a period of one months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
