The petitioner seeks bail in C.C.No.526 of 2024 on the file of I Additional Special Court for Exclusive Trial of cases under NDPS Act, Chennai for the alleged offence punishable under Sections 8 (c), 20(b)(ii)(C),25 and 29(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Pschotropic Substances Act in Crime No.5 of 2024, on the file of the respondent police, seek bail. 2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner along with other accused were in illegal possession of 22 kgs of ganja which is a commercial quantity. Hence the complaint.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that the petitioner is an innocent and a false case has been foisted against him. He would further submit that the petitioner is no way connected with the said occurrence.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police would contend that the petitioner along with other accused were in illegal possession of 22 kgs of ganja. He also submitted 1/3

that investigation has been completed and trial also commenced. Hence, he opposed to grant bail to the petitioner.

5.Heard both side and perused the materials available on record. 6.Considering the gravity of the offence and the quantity involved in this case is commercial in nature and now the case is posted for trial, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed. However, considering the long pendency of the case, it would be appropriate to direct the Court to complete the trial process within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Accordingly ordered.
