The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 18.07.2023 for the offences punishable under Sections 341, 294(b), 323, 336, 397 and 506(ii) IPC in Crime No.257 of 2023, on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2.The case of the prosecution is that petitioner and other accused demanded a sum of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) from the defacto complainant by showing knife and the petitioner slapped the defacto complainant. Hence the case.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner stated that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in Crime No.257 of 2023, for the alleged offences under Sections 341, 294(b), 323, 336, 397 and 506(ii) IPC. Thus, he prays for grant of bail.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that petitioner and second accused had scolded the defacto complainant in filthy language and taken Rs.500/- by showing knife. It is also stated that petitioner 1/3

has twenty three previous cases and the other accused had been granted bail. He further stated that petitioner is facing Trial in S.C.No.531 of 2023, before the Principal Sessions Court at Chennai and charges are to be framed by the Principal Sessions Court at Chennai. Thus, he prayed for dismissal of the petition.

5.Taking into consideration of the facts and circumstances and the bad antecedents of the petitioner, I am not inclined to grant bail. The petitioner may come forward with a fresh application after the charges are framed in the Principal Sessions Court, Chennai.
