This Criminal Original Petition is filed to direct the respondent to register the First Information Report as per the direction issued by the Judicial Magistrate, Gingee, vide order dated 07.11.2023. 1/4

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submits that the case has been registered in Crime No.378 of 2024 for the offences under Sections 294(b), 341, 323 and 506(i) IPC and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, on 25.09.2024.

The Investigating Officer/the respondent, who was supposed to register the complaint soon after the receipt of the order passed by the Judicial Magistrate, has conveniently hold the complaint for nearly 10 months and only after filing of this Criminal Original Petition, he has registered the FIR on 25.09.2024. Hence, this Court directs the Superintendent of Police, Villlupuram to take necessary departmental action against the Investigating Officer for his dereliction of duty. 4.
