The writ petition has been filed seeking payment of interest amount to the petitioner for the belated payment of Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave Salary and Commutation of Pension amount at the rate of 6% per annum for 21 months of delayed payment, in the light of the judgment passed by this Court in W.P.No. 30766 of 2024 dated 23.10.2024.

The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed as Junior Tradesman in the respondent Transport Corporation on 05.03.1992 and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.04.2023. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the 2/5
petitioner only on 12.02.2025 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondents dated 24.07.2025, to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that in view of the similar order passed by this Court in W.P.No.30766 of 2024 dated 23.10.2024, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of 3/5
actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
