The petitioner herein, who is the Assistant Commissioner of HR & CE, was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe amount of Rs.1,50,000/- from the defacto complainant for compying the Court's direction. 1/4

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the phenolphthalein test conducted on the spot was found negative and the money was not recovered from the petitioner herein, as alleged by the prosecution. 3.

This Court, on perusing the CD file, finds that the trap was laid based on the complaint given by one Sureshkumar. Being satisfied with the complaint, the respondent police laid the trap. The conversation between the complainant and the accused was recorded, which indicates a demand for bribe money. Coupled with the fact that a sum of Rs.1,50,000/- being the marked currency, was recovered from the petitioner herein, this led to the arrest of the petitioner on 17.07.2025.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that the investigation is still pending and the release of the petitioner at this juncture may hamper the course of the investigation. 5.

The transcript of the conversation, which is found in the seizure mahazar, indicates that the petitioner herein had requested the complainant to come to a particular shop for receiving the bribe money. This Court is of the view 2/4
