Respondent Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on the statutory appeal submitted by the petitioner to the respondent dated 18.09.2015 against the punishment imposed on him by the Deputy Inspector General of police, Kancheepuram Range, Kancheepuram in Na.Ka. No. B2/4370/ 2015 PR No. PR10/ Traffic/ PR/2013 dated 24.08.2015 within a reasonable time.

This writ petition has been filed by N.Sivakumar, seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondent to consider the statutory appeal dated 18.9.2015 submitted by him.

2. Heard Mr. K.Venkataramani, learned Senior counsel for the petitioner and Mr.R.Vijayakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, who took notice for the respondent and with their consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal.

3. The petitioner, who suffered punishment of stoppage of increment for a period of two years with cumulative effect by an order in PR.No.10/Traffic/PR/2013 dated 24.8.2015, has preferred a statutory appeal before the Inspector General of Police, North Zone, St. Thomas Mount, Chennai -15 through proper channel on 18.9.2015, but the said statutory appeal was ordered to be https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

submitted to the Additional Director General of Police, L&O, Chennai. Therefore, the grievance of the petitioner is that though the said appeal was submitted to the Additional Director General of Police, L&O, during the first week of September 2015, till date, the same has not been disposed of.

In view of the above, this Court, without going into the merits of the writ petition, considering the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, directs the respondent to consider and pass orders on the pending statutory appeal dated 18.09.2015, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
