ORDER

The petitioners, having been working as Overhead Water Tank Operators in Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat Union, have come to this Court seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to regularise their service with the benefit of compassionate appointment to their family in case of their death while in service and other retirement benefits including gratuity as provided to other employees of village panchayats. Although the petitioners have sought for a larger relief, when the matter was taken up, the learned counsel for the petitioners, restricting the relief, sought for a limited direction to the respondents to dispose of the pending representation of the petitioners dated 21.12.2015.

2. Mr.A.Kumar, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

3. This Court, considering the limited relief sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioners, without going to the merits, hereby directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 21.12.2015 on merits and pass orders in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. Consequently, W.M.P.No.6107 of 2016 is closed. No costs.
