The petition is filed seeking bail in connection with the alleged offence under Section 408 of IPC, alleging that the petitioner, who was employed under 1/4

the defacto complainant as Store Manager, had misappropriated a sum of Rs.57,81,218/-.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the alleged incident occurred during the period between 2023-2024. The First Information Report came to be registered only pursuant to the direction of the Judicial Magistrate No.VI, Coimbatore on 11.04.2025. Though initially the case was registered under Section 408 IPC, during the course of investigation, it has been revealed that an offence under Section 418 of IPC is also attracted. 3.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police opposed the grant of bail to the petitioner and submitted that till date the respondent police have not recovered the misappropriated amount. He further submitted that if the petitioner is released on bail, he may erase the trail of evidence.

Considering the nature of the complaint and the quantum involved, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed for the present. 21.08.2025 rpl 2/4
