ORDER

The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 01.08.2025, for the offence punishable under Section 7 (a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by the PC Amendment Act, 2018, in Crime No.14 of 2025, registered on the file of the respondent, seeks bail.

2.The case of the prosecution is that, the petitioner is working as Junior Assistant in Taluk Office, Uthangarai, had demanded Rs.4500/- for issuance of Birth Certificate in the name of

the child and has received Rs.3500/- on the day of trap. Hence, the case. Dr.G. JAYACHANDRAN, J.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an innocent person who has been falsely implicated in this case by the respondent Police. He also submits that the petitioner has been in judicial custody from 01.08.2025. Hence, prays for grant of bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) appearing for the respondent Police reiterated the prosecution case and submitted that the investigation has not yet been completed. Hence, strongly opposed for grant of bail to the petitioner. 5.Heard the learned counsels on either side and perused the records. 6.Considering the nature of the offence, the fact that the investigation is still pending, and since the custodial interrogation of the petitioner is very much required, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner for the present. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed for the present.
