Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant Electricity Service Connection for 7.5 H.P.Motor pump set to the petitioner for drawing water for the purpose of irrigation from the bore well in S.No.1015/1 F situate at Kavindapadi, Bhavani Taluk, Erode District, in pursuance to the application No.120/97-98, registered on 04.07.1997, on the file of the first respondent. O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, and Mr.S.K.Rameshwar, the learned Standing Counsel (for TNEB), who accepts notice for respondents. With the consent of parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.

The petitioner has prayed for free agricultural electricity service connection during the year 1997, and his allegation is that, the persons, who have been registered after the year 2000, have been granted electricity service connection, whereas, the petitioner's application is still kept pending. In this regard, the petitioner has given a representation, dated 17.02.2016, which has to be considered.

In the light of the above, there will be a direction to the first respondent to verify the records maintained by the second respondent, and see as to whether any persons registered subsequent to the petitioner, have been granted electricity service connection, and find out as to why the petitioner has not been granted, and thereafter, the first respondent shall pass orders on the petitioner's representation, dated 17.02.2016, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
