The writ petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to pay interest at the rate of 8% per annum for the belated payment of the commuted pension within a specified time.
2. The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed in the 1st respondent Transport Corporation on 02.07.1986 and retired from service as a Security Sergeant on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.04.2016. After his retirement, the respondent settled his provident fund, gratuity and other retirement benefits. However, the commutation pension was paid belatedly, without interest. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondents dated 19.12.2024 requesting them to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.
3. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.
