ORDER

The petitioner has filed this Writ Petition praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to provide monthly old age / disability pension to the petitioner, by considering the petitioner's representation, dated 07.01.2016 within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

2. The petitioner, who is aged about 67 years, has averred in the affidavit filed in support of the Writ Petition that he is residing along with his wife on the road-side of Thambuchetty Street. During his earlier period of life, he met with an accident, in which, the petitioner suffered grave injury in waist, causing him physically unable to walk property. The petitioner earlier worked as a Coolie in a goldsmith shop while he was hale and healthy. Having got married, his children are living separately. It is his grievance that he is struggling even for one square meal in this old age. He did not possess any movable or immovable assets/property and he is penniless without any source of income. He further stated that he has Family Ration Card bearing No.01/G/0263432 and also has Voter's Identity Card bearing No.DLG/1531508. The petitioner made a representation, dated 07.01.2016, with necessary documents, to the respondent for sanction of monthly old age pension / disability pension. received, inspite of several requests, no action has been taken by the respondent to sanction the said pension. Hence, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition for the above relief.

3. Heard both sides.

Taking into consideration the pathetic situation of the petitioner's life and also considering the factual aspects of the matter, without going into the merits of the claim of the petitioner, this Court directs the respondent to consider the said representation, dated 07.01.2016 of the petitioner, conduct enquiry, give an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and other necessary parties and thereafter pass appropriate orders and dispose of the said representation, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above observations and directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
