This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent to pass appropriate orders on the proposal that has already been submitted by the 3rd respondent through proceedings dated 20.09.2023, within a time frame fixed by this Court. 2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents. 3.The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed as a Fitter in the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation in the year 1990 by properly through employment exchange. Later he was promoted as Technical Assistant in the year 2007 based on his qualification. He was further promoted as Junior Engineer in the year 2007. Based on the B.E. degree that was obtained by the petitioner in April, 2004, he was re-designated as Assistant Engineer on 10.09.2008. His pay was also fixed in the post of Assistant Engineer through proceedings dated 11.10.2013. 2/5

4.The further case of the petitioner is that the 3rd respondent had sent a proposal to the 1st respondent for confirmation of the redesignation of the petitioner as Assistant Engineer. The same was not acted upon. The petitioner also sent several representations in this regard and the same did not evoke any response. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition came to be filed before this Court. 5.Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the relevant materials placed before this Court and also the proposal that has already been submitted by the 3rd respondent through proceedings dated 20.09.2023, there shall be a direction to the 1st respondent to pass appropriate orders on the proposal within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the 1st respondent along with all the relevant documents and also a copy of this order. A copy of the representation shall also be marked to the 3rd respondent.

7.In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above 3/5

directions. No costs.
