This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to deal with the application submitted by the petitioner on 04.03.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for renewal of certificate of practice for notary.

2. Heard Mr.J.Pradeep, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.MP.Jaisha, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for respondents.

3. The petitioner was appointed as a Notary under the Notaries Act and authorized to practice as a Notary for a period of five years i.e. from 08.03.2020 to 07.03.2025. The petitioner submitted an application for renewal on 04.03.2025 before the first respondent along with all the relevant documents. 2/4

Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

4. The petitioner ought to have presented the application for renewal six months prior to the expiry of the period of certificate. However, the petitioner has submitted the application only on 04.03.2025, whereas, the period was coming to an end on 07.03.2025. In view of the same, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to deal with the application submitted by the petitioner and grant renewal making it effective from the date of renewal for the regular period. This process shall be completed within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction.
