Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to take appropriate action as against the respondents 4 to 8 for the acts committed by the respondents 6 and 7 for giving the contract works of the 6th respondent panchayat to the 9th respondent and take such necessary further action to remove the 7th respondent from the office of the President of the 6th respondent panchayat or under Section 214 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act to dissolve the 6th respondent panchayat or to take such other proceedings under the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court. ORDER
(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.Elizabeth Ravi, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.K.Karthik Jagannath, learned Government Advocate, for respondents 1, 2, 4 and 5, Mr.R.Muniyappa Raj, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, for respondent No.3, Mr.Abdul Mubeen, learned counsel for respondent No.6, Mr.K.Govi Ganesan, learned counsel for respondent Nos.7 and 8 and Mr.Bharath Kumar, learned counsel for respondent No.9.
2. The learned State Government Pleader, on instructions, submits that proceedings under Section 205 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1974, have been initiated against respondent No.6.
3. As the said statement is made, we are not considering the merits of the matter.
The writ petition, accordingly, stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
