PRAYER in W.P.No.29640 of 2023: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to provide electricity connection, under Electricity Consumer No.01022013860, to the petitioner's property at No.2B, Bharathiyar Nagar, 6th Street, Ernavoor, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai 600057 comprised in Survey No.619/2 to an extent of 668 Sq.ft., based on the representation dated 15.9.2023 issued by the petitioner.

2. The petitioners seek electricity connection in respect of their property at Bharathiyar Nagar, 6th Street, Ernavoor, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai 600057 comprised 2 / 4

in Survey No.619/2 (W.P.No.29638 of 2023) and No.2B, Bharathiyar Nagar, 6th Street, Ernavoor, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai 600057 comprised in Survey No.619/2 (properties in question) based on their representations dated 14.09.2023 and 15.9.2023 respectively.

3. Mr.Venkatesh appearing for the Electricity Department, on instructions, states that the properties in respect of which electricity service connection is sought are categoried as 'Government Poramboke'.

4. Hence, in light of this position, this Court is not inclined to issue a positive direction to the respondents to provide electricity connection, but would only direct R2 to consider representations of the petitioners dated 14.09.2023 and 15.09.2023 respectively in accordance with law and in line with the relevant Rules and Regulations, within a period of four (4) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order, after hearing the petitioners.
