Respondents Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of certiorarified mandamus calling for the records of the first respondent in G.O.2(D) No.119, Industries (MMB-2) dated 20.08.1996, quash the same and direct the first respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 25.03.1996 for the grant of lease for quarrying multi-coloured granite rock over the extent of 0.43.5 hectares of land in Survey No.1044/1 and 1103/2 of Thiruthangal Village, Sattur Taluk, Virudhunagar District for a period of 20 years under Rule 39 of the Tamil Nadu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1959.

This petition has been filed seeking a writ of certiorarified mandamus calling for the records of the first respondent in G.O.2(D) No.119, Industries (MMB-2) dated https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

20.08.1996, quash the same and direct the first respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 25.03.1996 for the grant of lease for quarrying multi-coloured granite rock over the extent of 0.43.5 hectares of land in Survey No.1044/1 and 1103/2 of Thiruthangal Village, Sattur Taluk, Virudhunagar District for a period of 20 years under Rule 39 of the Tamil Nadu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1959.

2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, learned counsel for the petitioner fairly submitted that in view of the recent judgment of the Supreme Court in District Collector, Vellore District v. K.Govindaraj [2016(4) SCC 763], this petition has become infructuous.

Recording the same, this petition is dismissed as having become infructuous.

No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
