This petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus, directing respondents 1 to 6 to consider the representations dated 08-07-2024, 03-082024, and 05-08-2024, and to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner apprehends threat to his life at the hands of the 8th respondent/K.P.Sakthivel, who was the Panchayat President of Peddanaickenpalayam Taluk, West Rajapalayam, Salem District. However, there is no Panchayat President at present since the tenure of the 8th respondent has already ended.

3. Further, on perusal of the status report filed by the 2nd respondent, the District Collector of Salem District, it is evident that there is no threat to the petitioner's life from anyone.

4. In light of the above, the prayer sought for in this petition seeking police protection cannot be granted.

5. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed as devoid of merits. No costs.
