The petitioner in Crl.O.P.No.23379 of 2023 is arrayed as A4 and the petitioner in Crl.O.P.No.24320 of 2023 is arrayed as A1. 2.The petitioners who were arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 17.08.2023 registered by the respondent Police for the offences under Sections 489A, 489B, 489C and 489D of IPC, in Crime No.237 of 2023, seek bail.

3.The case of the prosecution is that A2 had exchanged a counterfeit notes of Rs.500/- with a vegetable vendor, who had lodged a complaint.

4.It is the contention of the learned Senior Counsel for A1 and learned counsel for A4 that the names of the said individuals are not found in the first information report.

5.However, it is the case of the prosecution that on securing A2, he had given a confession and on the basis of that confession, there was a discovery of counterfeit notes of Rs.500/-, all fake currencies to a total value of Rs.45/ lakhs from the residence of A1 and from A1, it was further determined that the notes had been printed in the printing press owned by A3 and A4.

6.It is only obvious that the vegetable shop keeper would not have known the names of A1, A2 and A3 or A4.

vkr 7.It is the contention of the learned Senior Counsel that the monies were kept only for shooting purposes and they were dummy notes without any serial numbers.

8.But, on the side of the respondent, it is contented that the fake currencies will have to be handed over to the Court after serializing them. 9.It is seen that the investigation is at very preliminary stage and from the printing press of A3 and A4, equipments have been seized. But further investigation will have to be done. Even though it is contended that the petitioners have been in custody for considerable period of time, since investigation has to proceed further, at this stage, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners.
