Prayer: Writ petitions filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India seeking to issue a Writ of Declaration to declare that Section 4 of the Tamilnadu Motor Vehicle Taxation Amendment Act 13 of 2003 as unconstitutional, in so far as, it purports to substitute the rate of Motor Vehicle taxes from Rs.500/- per quarter for a vehicle, to Rs.150/- per seat per quarter, with reference to the vehicles, TN 25 Z 6669, TN 23 0325, TN 20 C 3961, TDL 5988 owned by the petitioners respectfully. For Petitioners : Mr.P.Ranganathan in both W.Ps.

O R D E R

The relief sought for in the writ petitions are to declare the Section 4 of the Tamilnadu Motor Vehicle Taxation Amendment Act 13 of 2003 as unconstitutional, in so far as, it purports to substitute the rate of Motor Vehicle taxes from Rs.500/- per quarter for a vehicle, to Rs.150/- per seat per quarter, with reference to the vehicles, TN 25 Z 6669, TN 23 0325, TN 20 C 3961, TDL 5988 owned by the petitioners respectfully.

2. Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing on either side would submit that the writ petitions are filed in the year 2004. Since the matter is pending for more than 14 years, absolutely the petitions have become infructous. Hence, there is nothing survives in this writ petition.

3. Recording the submissions made by both the counsel, the writ petitions stands dismissed as infructuous. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petitions are closed. No costs.
