ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.S.Rajinikanth, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Harish, learned Government Advocate for the respondents.

2. The petitioner seeks direction against the first respondent to take action so as to stop extraction of water for commercial purpose as against ten companies. Those ten companies are not parties to the writ petition. In fact, they should have been made parties if the petitioner wants any relief against them.

3. Be that as it may; the State has filed a status report which says that a committee has been formed to inspect each and every unit and to find out whether they are operating under proper authority.

4. It is further stated by the learned Government Advocate that inspection would be carried out within a fortnight. Upon inspection being carried out, if some illegality is found, or if some company is extracting water illegally and unauthorisedly, then, action would be

taken against that company, expeditiously, preferably within three months.

5. In view of the said statement, the writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. (S.V.G., CJ.)
