O R D E R
The petitioner apprehending arrest for the alleged offence under Section 6(4) of TNSC (RDCS) Order 1982, r/w. Section 7(1)(a)(ii) of E.C.Act, 1955, in Crime No.165 of 2025, seeks anticipatory bail. 1/4

According to the prosecution, on 10.08.2025 at about 07.00 p.m., a lorry bearing Registration No.TN 52 AT 6782 was intercepted and in the lorry, 5100 kgs of PDS rice was meant to be transported to the other States. The vehicle belongs to the petitioner herein. Hence, he was arrayed as one of the accused, apart from the driver and his companion in the vehicle. This petitioner is absconding and could not be secured to investigate about the source of PDS rice which has been seized.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an innocent person and he is not aware about PDS rice illegally transported in his vehicle.
4. Per contra, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) appearing for the respondent Police submits that the petitioner is having four previous cases and engaging A2 and A3, he is habitually transporting the PDS rice which is meant to the people below the poverty line.

5. Considering the quantum of PDS rice transported illegally and the fact that the petitioner is having four previous cases of similar in nature, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
6. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 20.08.2025 ssb 3/4
