Respondents PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. praying to direct the 3rd respondent police to alter the offences punishable under Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and 294 (b), 355, 494 and 498 (A) of IPC instead of offences under Sections Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and 294 (b), 355 and 494 of IPC concerned in Crime No.10 of 2019 on the file of Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Vridhachalam, Cuddalore District (3rd respondent) and to conduct free and fair investigation and to file a final report. O R D E R

The prayer in the present petition to alter the offence cannot be sustained, since the investigation is pending and the alteration of offence would depend on the evidence collected during the course of investigation. Nevertheless, if the 1st respondent is directed to complete the investigation within a 1/2

stipulated time, the ends of justice could be secured.

2. In the light of the above observations, there shall be an direction to the 1st respondent to complete the investigation in Crime No.10 of 2019, as expeditiously as possible, in any event, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
