Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner representation dated 19.7.2022 and pass an order as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case.

ORDER

(Order of the court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioner dated 19.7.2022.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that G.O.Ms.No.197, dated 15.7.1984 and G.O.Ms.No.230, dated 27.1.1993 are still in force in respect of allotment of shops and without following the directions/guidelines stipulated therein, the second respondent is allotting shops in Nehru market place, Karaikal.

He would submit that in this regard, the petitioner has made a representation on 19.7.2022 to the District Collector, Karaikal by marking a copy to the second respondent and despite receipt of the representation, the second respondent has not disposed of the same till date.

Mr.V.Balamurugane, learned Government Pleader (Puducherry), taking notice on behalf of the respondents, submitted that four weeks' time may be granted to the second respondent to consider and dispose of the representation of the petitioner dated 19.7.2022.

Recording the submission made by learned Government Pleader (Puducherry) and without going into the merits of the matter, we direct the second respondent to consider and dispose of the representation of the petitioner dated 19.7.2022, in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording a reasonable opportunity to all concerned.
