ORDER

The petitioner herein being aggrieved by the order passed by the third respondent declining permission for the petitioner's organization to conduct demonstration and public meeting at the Collectorate premises in Chengalpattu District is before this Court.

2. The impugned order dated 09.08.2023 placed before this Court and the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that when earlier occasion, Police has permitted organization to conduct the protest meeting inside the Collectorate premises. The present rejection order suffers discrimination and violates fundamental rights of freedom of expression.

3. This Court on going through the impugned order finds that the purpose of the protest is against the functioning of the Collectorate Staffs and therefore, the third respondent has felt that the Protestors may identify collectorate staffs who will be in the premises in the course of 2/4

discharging the duty and the protest may cause disturbance to the public peace and tranquility. This Court finds reasons in the impugned order rejecting the permission, if the petitioner shift the place of protest elsewhere without causing any disturbance to the public and make a request to the respondent police, the same may be considered by the respondent police in accordance with law and appropriate orders may be passed.

4. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. Vv 07.11.2023 To
