This criminal original petition is filed challenging the order passed by the Court below in CMP No.1633 of 2023 dated 13.04.2023. Wherein the petitioner has sought for permission to extend his stay outside India in order to undergo treatment for his chronic kidney ailment.

2. Heard Mr.M.Guruprasad, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.Gopinath, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) for the respondent.

3. The Court below had initially permitted the petitioner to travel abroad vide order dated 07.04.2022 and the petitioner was given one year time. Thereafter the petitioner sought for extension of time and the same was dismissed by the Court below.

4. The learned Government Advocate on instructions submitted that the investigation has been completed and the final report has been filed before the Judicial Magistrate - 1, Alandur and it has been taken on file in C.C.No.742 of 2023.

5. The learned Government Advocate submitted that there is only one accused in this case and five witnesses are yet to be examined on the side of the prosecution.

6. In the light of the above development, this Court deems it fit to direct the Court below to complete the proceedings as expeditiously as possible. If the criminal proceedings are disposed of, the petitioner will have more clarity with regard to his further course of action.

7. In the result this criminal original petition stands disposed of with the direction to learned Judicial Magistrate - 1, Alandur to complete the proceedings in C.C.No.742 of 2023 as expeditiously as possible. 20.02.2024 Speaking Order/Non-speaking Order Index :Yes/No nst 3/5
